Thursday's Music Pick: Rainbow Arabia

Our friends at FILTER Magazine bring us today’s music pick, Rainbow Arabia. The husband and wife duo are making waves on the LA music scene with their blend of dance music featuring worldly synth. Rainbow Arabia may seem an unlikely signing to German electronic label, Kompakt, but given the label’s appetite for all manners of dance and, particularly, its newfound taste for the garish and maximal, it’s no wonder it gravitated towards this globalist blend of puckish synths, Middle Eastern modalities and gleeful polyrhythms.

Check out Without You, the single off of their recent release, Boys And Diamonds.

Wednesday's Video Pick: Moby

Moby is back with his upcoming new record Destroyed and we have the new video single for “The Day” featuring Heather Graham.

“‘The Day” was written in a hotel room in Spain at dawn when I hadn’t slept. It was a beautiful hotel room, a beautiful perfect hotel room and it was six or seven in the morning. I wrote it on a acoustic guitar and recorded it on my phone, brought it home and re-recorded it with old broken down electronics that I have in my studio”. - Moby

“The Day” was indirectly inspired by David Bowie and Brian Eno’s production which Moby believes is now part of his DNA; growing up, Moby had Low and Heroes spinning constantly on his turntable. The Day is one of the few tracks from Destroyed that Moby sings on.

In support of young filmmakers, Moby is partnering with Saatchi & Saatchi and Vimeo on an exciting new video challenge as part of The 21st Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2011 happening June 19th – 25th. The theme of this year’s New Directors’ Showcase is “Hello, Future” in which directors across the world are invited to visualize the concept of “Hello, Future” in the form of a standout music video inspired by one of the three tracks selected from Moby’s new album, Destroyed, which are “Be The One”, “The Day”, and “After”. The winner will be announced at this year’s Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase in Cannes on June 23rd as well as on the Vimeo website.

For entry guidelines and information on how to submit videos to the competition go to: www.moby.com or www.vimeo.com/saatchiandsaatchi. Closing date for submissions is May 9th 2011 at 11.59 GMT.
