Where Has Your AE Been - Costa Rica

Jessica M. spent the Summer of 2010 in Costa Rica on a mission trip. Before she left, she stocked up on AE racerback tanks from the Spring 2010 line. Not only did her tanks make it through an entire summer in Costa Rica, but they made it through this summer too and are still in perfect condition.

The Ting Tings Announce Release of NEW Album 'Sounds From Nowheresville' in March 2012

Platinum-selling British duo The Ting Tings (Jules De Martino and Katie White) are back with their highly anticipated sophomore album Sounds From Nowheresville (Columbia Records) due out in the US March 2012. The Ting Tings have rediscovered their sound, called upon new inspirations, and are back with revitalized energy and a fresh perspective. The Ting Tings launched themselves into the world with their DIY hardcore-pop in 2008 to massive acclaim with their debut album We Started Nothing. The album spawned hit singles “That’s Not My Name,” “Shut Up And Let Me Go” along with “Great DJ”.

At the start of 2011, The Ting Tings were pointed in the direction of the unequivocal classic Beastie Boys album, Paul’s Boutique. Having played the record many times before, they were overawed when they delved back into the album and discovered its many nuances. If they needed a bounce-off point to set their muse free, this was it. What they had learned most implicitly was a freedom to move around musically. Hence the title: Sounds From Nowheresville. Musically, the album has really let The Ting Tings rip. Check out the video for their first single “Hang It Up”

Get Inspired: Give Experiences

Still trying to find the perfect present for somebody on your list? Give something they won't tire of by Valentine's Day and remember forever - an experience.

Take a trip by train.

Take a trip by train.

Most Americans don't travel by train very often, if ever. Traveling by train has definite advantages over flying - most train stations are in city centers, you don't have to deal with connecting flights or finding a parking spot and best of all - you can sit back and enjoy the trip. The travel time is a little longer but there is something romantic about taking a train trip. We recently priced a trip from Pittsburgh to New York for $140.

Take a class.

Most people have something they would love to try or learn how to do. You can find classes for everything from wine tasting, surfing lessons, or even salsa dancing.

Tickets to a concert or show.

The tents at Cirque du Soleil.

Buy tickets to a national production of a play or musical someone on your list has been dying to see or tickets to a concert. Productions such as Cirque du Soleil have national tours, so you can find tickets in a city near you.

Have a great meal.

Everyone remembers a great meal. Take someone to a restaurant they've been meaning to try or wouldn't go to unless it was a special occasion. In Pittsburgh, we would suggest Sunday brunch at Grand Concourse. Another great option would be to go somewhere they would never pick themselves but might be interested in trying, such as fondue at The Melting Pot.

Pay an entrance fee for a race or competition.

Pay an entrance fee to a race or other event.

If you have someone on your list who is a big runner or enjoys other competitive sports, pay their entry fee as a gift. They have no excuse to not finally run the half-marathon or marathon they have been talking about!

Give a spa day.

Most people won't indulge in a spa day for themselves, but if you know someone who could use it, a spa gift certificate is a great idea.

Have you ever given an experience rather than a physical gift?

Win a Signed Epiphone Guitar from Javier Colon

Javier Colon

Javier Colon has a lot of heart.

In fact, that heart is precisely why he captivated America when he reigned supreme on The Voice. It's why he never gave up on his dream of a career in music even in the face of numerous setbacks and what seemed like endless adversity. It's why every time he writes a song, it strikes a chord. It's also why when the world hears his forthcoming 2011 debut album, Come Through For You, on Universal Republic Records, they will feel it.

How many fans of The Voice do we have out there? Well, we have an extra special contest for you today. We’re giving away a signed Epiphone Guitar from Javier Colon.

The Knocks Present Their Mixtape, "The Transplant II"

The Knocks

Everyone can now make music. The increasing access to music related technology and the liquid flow of music and information is a blessing to aspiring musicians, but a curse to those who have to sift through the terrible mash-ups and tunes in order to find quality music. Based out of New York City’s Lower East Side, The Knocks are taking a stand and reclaiming good music for all.

The Knocks - Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “Jpatt” Patterson - garnered their name from the early days of their production career when they tirelessly worked out of their home studios and complaining neighbors would knock on their doors. Coupled with DJing and making mixtapes, the pair cobbled together enough money to open their studio; HeavyRoc Music. Following the tried and tested route of classic New York producers of the past, the pair would head straight from the studio to the club with a new fresh jam to test on the crowd in their DJ sets.

They have since produced original material and remixes for Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Marina & the Diamonds, and now their own music.. The Knocks have been taking their energetic live dance party all over the world, including their sold out NYC Bowery Ballroom debut, Tammany Hall headlining show and their European tour with Sleigh Bells and M.I.A. They’ve shared the stage with acts like Big Boi, Chromeo, and just finished a U.S. tour with Ellie Goulding.

We’re very excited to share with you this mixtape from The Knocks titled “The Transplant II”. We expect big, big things to come from these two.

Aritsts with original Mashups featured in the mixtape include:

The Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Dirty Money, D. Gookin, Gypsy & The Cat, Elton John, The Temper Trap, Daft Punk, Yelle, Soulja Boy, Foster The People, Dom, Alex Winston, Sound Of Arrows, Stylus Dust, Travis Porter, Two Door Cinema Club, Sean Paul, Drake, Active Child, B.O.B, Penguin Prison, The Knocks, The New Radicals, Chelley, Classixx, Stardust, Samuel, T.I, Usher, Ellie Goulding, Grum, Marques Houston, The Twelves, Atlas, Louis La Roche, Lil Wayne, Marina & The Diamonds, The Naked & Famous, Puff Daddy, The Crookers, M.O.P & more

Video Pick: "The Hours" by Exitmusic

How many Boardwalk Empire fans are out there? In honor of this week’s season finale, we have a special video to share with you. Aleksa Palladino, who plays Angela Darmody, makes beautifully melodic, dreamy music with her husband, Devon Church, as Exitmusic. The New York City duo doesn't care when the chill runs down your spine, they just hope their music provokes some kind of primal feeling. Striking a unique balance between darkness and light, their music builds on a foundation of rhythmic electronics and synthesizers, to arrive at a sound almost operatic in scope. Check out the recently released video for “The Hours”

Where Has Your AE Been - The Mediterranean

My name is Jamie and I am an Associate Marketing Manager at American Eagle on the Social Media Team. Last year was a fun-filled year of traveling for my husband and me. Our favorite trip by far was a 7-day cruise through the Mediterranean. We made stops in Taromina, Sicily; Athens, Greece; Kusadasi, Turkey; and Crete, Greece. At the end of our trip, we spent a few days in Rome, Italy indulging in wine and all of the pasta we could eat.

This picture is of my husband, Justin, and me in Athens. I’m wearing an AE Boyfriend Tank and Justin is wearing AE Cargo Shorts.

This second picture is aboard our cruise ship. There were beautiful sunsets every night that made for great photo ops. In this photo, I’m wearing an AE Dress from Holiday 2010. I receive compliments on it every time I wear it and we have a similar one this year, the AE Party Dress. It is perfect for Holiday parties! Keep sending us your photos traveling around the world in AE to social@ae.com!
