MP3 Of The Day: Gemini Club “Can’t Believe You Said That”

Gemini Club

Gemini Club, consisting of Dan Brunelle, Tom Gavin and Gordon Bramli is a three-piece indie-electronic dance band hailing from Chicago. Their unique live shows have been tearing up the scene for the last two years and commencing dizzying dance parties in every city they go. Far from the conventional live performances, Gemini Club have a specially designed rig that allows for on-the-fly remixing of their own songs, meaning each Gemini Club show is different from the last. As a result, Gemini Club has been asked to support the lives of Chromeo, A-Trak, Two Door Cinema Club, and Chateau Marmont.

MP3 Of The Day: Beach House

Beach House
\Beach House’s 4th studio album Bloom, will be available in the US and Canada May 15th on CD, double-LP, and digital formats via Sub Pop Records. Bloom, led by the single, “Myth,” was recorded in late 2011 at Sonic Ranch Studios and co-produced by Beach House and Chris Coady.

The landscape of Bloom was largely designed on the road, between the countless sound checks and myriad experiences during two years of tour. Throughout this period, melodies, chords, rhythms, words, and textures surfaced in moments of their own choosing. These spontaneous ideas were later gathered and developed in Baltimore, where the band lives and works.
Like previous Beach House releases (Beach House in 2006, Devotion in 2008, Teen Dream in 2010), Bloom further develops their distinctive sound yet stands apart as a new piece of work.

The Japanese Popstars Set to Release Astralwerks Debut, Free Download

The Japanese Popstars are ravenous. Since they first tasted success in 2006 with their first 2 releases on a small indie dance label, their career has been one smooth upward curve, but now that line is about to take a sharp rise vertically. Comprised of 3 lads from Northern Ireland, The Japanese Popstars will release “Controlling Your Allegiance” on June 21st via Astralwerks.

A must-see live act and purveyor of raucous, foot-stomping, energetic electronic dance music, the band has also made a name for themselves as sought after remixers, having re-worked music for Beyonce, Depeche Mode, Gorillaz and Kylie Minogue.

MP3 Monday: The Wooden Birds

The Wooden Birds, led by Andrew Kenny (American Analog Set, Broken Social Scene) announce their North American headlining tour in support their great new full length, Two Matchsticks. The summer tour around Barsuk's June 7th release of the album includes shows along both coasts and two Canadian dates.

Also, this week MTVHive premieres the first song off Two Matchsticks and we're thrilled to be sharing it with all of you here! The title track was recorded in a converted bedroom in Kenny's Austin home and mixed at Resonate Studio with producer Louie Lino (Nada Surf). In creating Two Matchsticks, the band drew on the strengths of their live show, making it more driven, upbeat and fuller than the Birds' previous efforts. The album also features Wooden Birds members Leslie Sisson and Matt Pond who, in addition to singing backing vocals on the album, sing lead and duet with Kenny on some of the album's most memorable songs. Other special guests include Ben Gibbard from Death Cab For Cutie along with members of Ola Podrida.
