Music Pick of the Week: Mackintosh Braun

The Portland-based duo Mackintosh Braun is a formidable pop duo consisting of Ian Mackintosh and Ben Braun, and released their Chop Shop/Atlantic Records' debut, Where We Are in September of 2010. The band’s album transports us, utilizing a sophisticated production with sharp, emotive songwriting, and danceable elements. The ambitious young members find themselves highly drawn to the technical side music, contributing to Portland’s current scene booming with experimentation and singular sonic vision. Considering that Portland is home to bands as varied as the Decemberists, YACHT, and Modest Mouse, there is no more of a quintessentially Portland band than Mackintosh Braun.

To support the single, "Could it Be", the band has created an out-of-this-world video which will take the listener outside of this atmosphere... via an airstream turned rocket ship. In addition, while watching the video, you might just recognize the sleepy ticket taker to be NBC's very own Scott Krinsky - aka Jeff Barnes from the hit television series Chuck.

Since gearing up for their release, Mackintosh Braun has been hitting the marks in the music scene. With song features in popular TV series Grey’s Anatomy, and showcasing their Chop Shop Records/Atlantic Records debut,
Where We Are on Spinner.com, the duo has caught the attention of Associated Press.
